Privacy policy

Ripe & Local ("we") runs ripeandlocal.com. You can use the site without an account, and we don't ask for your name or email address. This page explains what is stored on your device, which outside services see your visit, and the choices you have.
What stays on your device
The site keeps a few things in your browser's local storage so they're there next time: markets you save, markets you viewed recently, a location you searched from, and filter and display preferences. They stay on your device. The Saved page sends the markets you saved to our server only to look up their current details, and we don't keep a record of them. You can delete all of this at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. We don't set cookies of our own.
Your location and searches
We only use your device's location if you press "Use my location", and your browser asks you first. The coordinates are sent with your search to find nearby markets and are kept on your device for your next visit; we don't store them. When you search for a ZIP code, our server asks Mapbox where that ZIP code is; nothing that identifies you is sent with that request.
Services that see your visit
- Cloudflare hosts the site and protects it from abuse. Like any web host, it receives your IP address and basic request details, and it may set a short-lived security cookie. Cloudflare privacy policy
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits and measures how fast pages load, so we can see which pages people use. It doesn't use cookies or fingerprinting, and we only see totals, not individual visitors. About Cloudflare Web Analytics
- Mapbox draws the maps. Your browser loads map images and data from Mapbox, which receives your IP address and collects some usage data about the map. Mapbox privacy policy
- Google provides some market photos, which your browser loads from Google, and the advertising described below. Google privacy policy
